  1. Robert Knochel

    Robert Knochel

    Assistant District Attorney

    “Bobby” Knochel began working at the District Attorney’s Office in 2004, and he currently serves as chief prosecutor. Bobby obtained his Business Administration degree in 1989, from the University of Mississippi. Subsequently, in 1994, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University Of Mississippi School Of Law. Prior to becoming employed with the District Attorney’s Office, Bobby’s practice included work in circuit court, chancery court and youth court.  Bobby is a member of the National District Attorneys Association, Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association, Mississippi Bar Association, and Jackson County Bar Association.


  2. Geroge Huffman

    George Huffman

    Assistant District Attorney

    George has spent the greater part of the last two decades seeking justice for victims on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  He has tried over 70 cases to verdict, including 20-plus murder cases.  No stranger to high-profile cases, George regularly serves as the first-chair trial attorney on complex cases.  In addition to his extensive criminal experience, George has served as corporate counsel for one of the nation’s largest senior care companies.

    In his current role at the 19th Circuit District Attorney’s Office, George serves as the Chief of Litigation and Prosecutor Training.  In addition to carrying a heavy caseload, George assists the office in the development of consistent litigation strategy and ensures that the next generation of prosecutors are well-trained, courtroom ready, and ever focused on seeking justice for crime victims.

    George is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Mississippi College School of Law.  He holds multiple state bar licenses and is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Gulf Coast


  3. Justin Lavorn

    Justin Lovorn

    Assistant District Attorney

    Justin Lovorn is a native of Pascagoula, Mississippi. He graduated from Pascagoula High School in 2004, and attended the University of Mississippi. He graduated from Ole Miss in 2008, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and again in 2009, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. Upon graduation, Justin obtained his teaching license and taught seventh grade science at Magnolia Junior High School in Moss Point, Mississippi. Justin attended Mississippi College School of Law where he was elected Honor Court Justice and was a STAR mentor. Working under Mississippi’s Limited Practice Act, Justin interned in the District Attorney’s office during his final semester of law school. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 2012, and was admitted to practice law in Mississippi that same year. Justin is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Juvenile Courts Bar Association, and the Mississippi Prosecutors Association.


  4. William Barrett

    William Barrett

    Assistant District Attorney
    Bill was born in Gulfport, Mississippi and graduated from St. John High School in 2002. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Forest Resource Management from Clemson University in 2006, and in 2009, he graduated from the Mississippi College School of Law. During law school he interned with the Federal Public Defender in Jackson, Mississippi. After law school, Bill opened a law firm with his father, former federal prosecutor Peter Barrett, practicing mainly in the area of federal criminal defense. In 2011, Barrett was selected to join the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel for the Southern District of Mississippi. As a member of the CJA panel, Barrett represented numerous clients in federal court appointed cases, both at the trial level and in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2014, Barrett was selected as the CJA Panel Representative for the Southern District of Mississippi. In July of 2015, Barret was sworn in as an Assistant District Attorney for the 19th Judicial District.

  5. Michael Dykes

    Michael Dykes

    Assistant District Attorney
    Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Mississippi State University in 2000. He obtained his law degree from The University of Mississippi in 2009, and he was admitted to practice in Mississippi the same year. Dykes served one year as a law clerk for the 16th Chancery Court District in Jackson County, and then he worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Harrison County for the following four years. Dykes was Commissioned at Marion Military Institute in 1998, and he has over 18 years of active and reserve military service. Dykes has served on three combat tours in Bosnia and Iraq, and he currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He is currently serving as the Battalion Commander for the 1st Battalion 155th Combined Arms Battalion “Mississippi Rifles.” Dykes was sworn in as an Assistant District Attorney for the 19th Judicial District in August 2015.

  6. Carolyn Lewis

    Carolyn Lewis

    Assistant District Attorney
    Carolyn is a native of Lucedale, MS, and joined the District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney in 2016. She is a 2007 graduate of George County High School, and in 2011, she graduated cum laude from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. Carolyn attended Mississippi College School of Law, where she served on the Law Student Bar Association all three years as Honor Court Justice, Co-Events Coordinator, and Development Liaison. She also served as Vice President of the Women’s Student Bar Association, and was a Dean’s Ambassador. During law school, she worked under the Mississippi Limited Practice Act, and served as an extern in the District Attorney’s office, before graduating in 2016. Carolyn is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association, and the Jackson County Bar Association.

  7. CJ Winship

    CJ Winship

    Assistant District Attorney

    CJ is a native of Laurel, MS, and joined the District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney in 2023. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Mississippi State in 2013 while playing soccer for the Bulldogs. Upon graduation, she served as a police officer for the City of Starkville for six years.  During that time, she also obtained her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of West Alabama.  CJ went to law school in 2020 at the University of Mississippi where she served on the Student Bar Administration as the Attorney General and the Dean’s Leadership Council as Co-Chair.  She is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association, and the Jackson County Bar Association.


  8. Ann Mogan

    Ann Morgan Sullivan

    Assistant District Attorney

    Ann Morgan Sullivan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She then attended the University of Alabama School of Law, where she served as a Senior Editor of the Law and Psychology Review,  a Co-Captain of the National Trial Advocacy Team, an Appellate Advocate for the National Duberstein Bankruptcy Team, and as a member of the Moot Court Board. She was also inducted into the Order of Barristers and the Bench and Bar Society for her dedication to and passion for oral and trial advocacy. Following her second year of law school, Ann Morgan spent the summer as an intern with the District Attorney's Office. After graduating and receiving her Juris Doctorate in 2024, she was admitted to practice in Mississippi and sworn in as an Assistant District Attorney for the 19th Circuit the same year. Ann Morgan is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Prosecutor's Association, and the Jackson County Bar Association.
