Information Systems

The informations systems departments consists of two divisions - Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Information Technology (IT). Both divisions provide personalized technical support to various county offices that deliver day to day services to the citizens of Jackson County.

GIS Division

The GIS division is responsible for providing accurate and up to date GIS information to the citizens of Jackson County. county departments, cities, state and federal agencies and private entities. Data available from GIS includes:

  • Administrative and political boundaries
    • Fire
    • Legislative
    • School district, etc
    • Supervisor
  • Census data
  • Floodplain
  • Miscellaneous other data
  • Ownership/Parcel boundaries and appraisal data
  • Parks and recreation
  • Soils data
  • Topological features
    • Buildings
    • Contours
    • Hydrography
    • Railroads
    • Roads
  • U.S. Public Land survey - township, range, and section lines
  • Zoning and Land use boundaries

Online Webmapping

Online Webmapping is maintained by the GIS Division and allows you to browse through various layers of data including information about parcels, flood elevations and much more.

Enterprise GIS

The GIS division is currently working on new and exciting GIS projects and developing new data and applications as part of the County’s Enterprise GIS program. The term “Enterprise GIS” means a geographic information system that is integrated throughout the entire organization so that all staff can create, view, and share geographic data and related information to address a variety of needs. 

The goal of our program is to implement centralized resources that reduce data redundancy and promote efficient and effective use of GIS among County staff.

IT Division

The IT division takes care of computer systems for over 40 departments spread across the entire County. Their goal is to provide departments with the tools and technology they need to meet the needs of the citizens of Jackson County.
