Voter Registration


The following information is a brief overview for voters and potential voters. More information about voting and elections can be found on the Mississippi Secretary of State Website

To Qualify as a Voter...

  • Must be 18 years of age (those who will turn 18 by the General Election in November may vote in the primaries)
  • Must be registered to vote at least 30 days prior to the election
  • Anyone with a conviction of any of the following crimes is NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE:
  • Arson
  • Armed Robbery
  • Bigamy
  • Bribery
  • Embezzlement
  • Extortion
  • Felony Bad Check
  • Felony Shoplifting
  • Forgery
  • Murder
  • Obtaining Money or Goods under False Pretence
  • Perjury
  • Rape
  • Receiving stolen property
  • Robbery
  • Theft
  • Timber Larceny
  • Unlawful taking of Motor Vehicle
  • Statutory Rape
  • Carjacking

How to Register

A Voter Registration form may be obtained from:

  • Download a Voter Registration Form
  • Any City Hall
  • County Courthouse (Circuit Clerk's Office)
  • By Mail (request an application be mailed to you by the Circuit Clerk's Office)
  • High Schools (The Circuit Clerk visits High Schools and distributes applications)
  • Any Local Library

Registration Deadline

The Voter Registration Application must be delivered to your Registrar or postmarked (if mailed) at least 30 days prior to the election. The Circuit Clerk is Jackson County's Registrar.

Where to Vote

In Person

Residents must vote in person at their designated Voting Precinct. You may use the Secretary of State's Polling Place Locator to find where to vote by address.

Absentee

If you are unable to vote at the precinct on the day of the election you may be able to vote absentee ballot. Contact the Circuit Clerk's office for more information and deadlines to vote absentee.
