Created in July 1993, the Jackson County Archives Department is responsible for the preservation of county records for the people. State law requires that these records are kept forever. Most of the archives records date back to 1875 when the county courthouse burned and include:

  • Tax Receipts
  • Land Rolls
  • Chancery Court Cases from 1875-1980
  • Local Newspapers from 1875 to 1929 (Hard Copy)
  • Newspapers on microfilm
  • Official Board of Supervisors minutes

Birth, Death & Marriage Certificates may be obtained from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
