About

Chief Randy Muffley has been with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department since December 2001.


 Assignments & Promotions

He began his career at the Adult Detention Center as a Deputy. He was transferred to the Patrol Division in January 2005. In July 2008, he was promoted to Sergeant and was transferred to the Adult Detention Center as a shift supervisor. In September 2009, he was transferred to the Transportation Division as a Sergeant. In April 2010, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigations as a Sergeant. In October 2014, he was promoted to Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Division. In March 2017, he was promoted to Captain over the Criminal Investigations Division. In January 2023, he was appointed as Chief Deputy.


Personal Accomplishments 

Chief Muffley has been a lifelong resident of Jackson County, served in the United States Army, attended the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy and received the Jackson County Sheriff's Department Bruce W. Evans Spirit of Excellence Award.
