During the Nov. 15 Board meeting, Supervisors Taylor, Ross, Cumbest, and Bosarge presented Portia Harris with a Certificate of Appreciation for her dedicated service to Jackson County as Supervisor of District 2. Although she only served in the position since being appointed on August 2, 2021, Mrs. Harris' commitment to the community had also been demonstrated through the life-long support she provided her late husband, Supervisor Melton Harris. Mr. Harris passed away during his fourth term as Supervisor on July 13, 2021.
The County appreciates Mrs. Harris' willingness to serve in memory and honor of Mr. Harris. It has been a pleasure working with her and we wish her all the best.
A new District 2 Supervisor will be sworn in on or before the December 6 board meeting after the run-off election.
