A portion of the corner lot on Arthur and Dantzler Streets in Moss Point is being transformed – back to its original state as a functioning wetland, a Bayhead Swamp. Sponsored by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, this project was designed as a demonstration of reconnecting the pieces and parts of a small urban watershed toward better stormwater flow and treatment – using natural wetlands. All are welcomed to watch the transformation from a grass and shrub meadow to a forest over the coming months and years. Thanks to the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve for producing this short video about how and why this matters.
