Jackson County would like to share the status of the Point Clear Dredging Project in Gautier that is currently ongoing. The Project began in Spring of 2020 and is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2021. The Bayous are being dredged to a depth of -5 feet (Mean Low Water) from existing depths ranging from -4 feet to -1.5 feet in some areas.
The attached map shows which Bayous have been completed (shown in green) as well as Bayous that are still in progress (shown in orange). Please note that the lines on the map may not represent the exact extent of the dredging to be completed. Each Bayou within the Project is labeled with a number/letter.
The Bayous that are currently being dredged are: Bayous – 1A, 1B, 1C, 2, 6, 6O, 6N, 6A, 6B, & 6C. Once these current Bayous are finished the contractor will continue to dredge the remaining Bayous until all are complete.
Jackson County asks that the public use caution when boating in the Point Clear Bayous and would like to thank the residents of Point Clear for their patience while the Project is being completed. If you have any questions regarding the project please contact Matthew Hosey, Jackson County Project Manager, at 228-769-3088 or via email at Matthew_Hosey@co.jackson.ms.us.
