Most Jackson County Offices will be CLOSED the following days:
Thanksgiving
- Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27
- The County Landfill on Seaman Road will also be CLOSED on Saturday, November 28
- The Animal Shelter in Gautier will be OPEN on Saturday, November 28
- Garbage and Recycling Services will NOT RUN on Thursday, November 26 (Thanksgiving Day), therefore services will run a day behind. If your regular service day is Thursday, you will be served on Friday and if your regular service day is Friday, you will be served on Saturday.
Christmas
- Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25
- The County Landfill on Seaman Road will also be CLOSED on Saturday, December 26
- The Animal Shelter in Gautier will also be CLOSED on Saturday, December 26
- Garbage and Recycling Service schedules will be announced at a later date.
New Year’s Eve and Day
- Thursday, December 31 and Friday, January 1, 2021
- The County Landfill on Seaman Road will also be CLOSED on Saturday, January 2, 2021
- The Animal Shelter in Gautier will also be CLOSED on Saturday, January 2, 2021
- Garbage and Recycling Service schedules will be announced at a later date
The County’s Whispering Pines Golf Course will ONLY be CLOSED the following days:
- Thanksgiving Day (November 26)
- Christmas Eve (December 24) Closing at Noon
- Christmas Day (December 25)
- New Year’s Eve (December 31) – Closing at 1 p.m.
- New Year’s Day (January 1)

Although offices will be closed, residents can take care of official business through the County’s website, www.co.jackson.ms.us. Citizens can pay their property taxes and purchase car tags on the Tax Collector’s webpage.
There are also plenty of County recreational facilities that residents can enjoy throughout the long weekend including boat launches, fishing piers* and 12 public parks that will be open the entire holiday weekend. The County’s lighted walking tracks, tennis courts, and basketball courts can be used until 10 p.m.
*The Ocean Springs Highway 90 Fishing Pier and Ocean Springs Harbor Pier are temporarily closed due to damage from Hurricane Zeta.
The Board of Supervisors will also hold their first meeting of 2021 at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 4.
