[ARCHIVED] Ribbon Cutting for Renovated JC Civic Center

Civic Center Reno Ribbon Cutting

On November 21, 2019, the Board of Supervisors celebrated the completion of renovations to Jackson County’s B.E. “Mac” McGinty Civic Center in Pascagoula. The $3.11 million project spanned over three years and included updates to both exterior and interior of the building.

Exterior renovations, completed in 2016, involved adding a brick exterior with new windows and doors, retrofit roof system, awning on east end, and installation of new fixtures.

The interior of the facility was renovated in 2019 with all new doors, lighting, operable partitions, and wall coverings. In addition, the old flooring was replaced with luxury vinyl tile that is more durable, provides for better acoustics, and requires less maintenance. A new sound system features 72 ceiling mounted 75-watt speakers with 12 sound zones that can be controlled by multiple devices, and two 500-watt stage speakers. Partial renovations of the HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, sprinkler, and electrical systems were also completed. The final touch will be the stage curtain, expected to arrive soon.

The County hired J.O. Collins Contractor, Inc. for the exterior renovations and Stewart Construction for the interior renovations. The architect for both is Allred Stolarski Architect.

The Civic Center is a rental facility used for many annual events such as the Industrial Trade Show, Jackson County Fair, Mardi Gras Balls, and the Blues Festival. It features an 11,834 square foot auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,000, a 1500 square foot stage with dressing rooms, full size industrial kitchen, and a 1,000 square foot conference room.
