[ARCHIVED] Public Hearing re: applying for funding for new EOC

Public Hearing - Community Revitalization Project (proposed new EOC)

The Board of Supervisors is considering applying to the Mississippi Development Authority for Katrina Supplemental Community Development Block Grants funds of up to $5M. The proposed Community Revitalization Project  is a new Emergency Operations Center that would be constructed in the Sunplex Light Industrial Park located on the west side of Highway 57 between Highway 90 and Interstate 10. 

JACKSON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE - 
(as published in the Mississippi Press on August 7, 2022)

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors is considering applying to the Mississippi Development Authority (“MDA”) for Katrina Supplemental Community Development Block Grant funds of up to $5,000,000 for a Community Revitalization Project.  The State of Mississippi has been allocated Hurricane Katrina Supplemental Community Development Block Grant funds that will be made available to cities and counties on a competitive basis to undertake eligible activities.  These funds must be used for one of the following purposes:

  1.  to benefit low- to moderate-income persons;
  2. to aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; or
  3. to meet other community development needs having a particular urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to the health or welfare of the community where other financial resources are not available to meet such needs.

 More specific details regarding the proposed projects, program requirements, and the rating system will be provided at a public hearing which will be held at the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, 2915 Canty Street, Pascagoula, Mississippi 39567 on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. local time.  The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain citizen input into the development of the application.  Written comments should be sent to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors Office, Attention: Sonya Carter, Grants Director, 2915 Canty Street, Pascagoula, Mississippi 39567 no later than August 19, 2022 by close of business to be included in the application to MDA.
